When ever my computer crashes it always spits this out on the log: MDCrashReportTool: 1214:209563648|CrashReportCopierAFC.m:-| ERROR: AFCFileRefOpen on. I cannot use my computer properly any more due to the amount of lockups I get. and now its happening like twice or 3 times a day. Granted, a "degraded SSD" is most probably still blazing fast in comparison - but performance does degrade, too.Hi, I have had enough of this, my iMac has been crashing and locking up for the past month. Depending on the pattern on how data is written (and discarded) SSD performance degrades (until a "real clean" is done and all "data blocks" (cells?) are properly cleared again -> TRIM). The same actually goes - to some extend - also for SSDs (much more so without TRIM enabled). It runs just fine now (for a 7 year old computer).

She bought a new Mac (and loves it) but I took her old one and replaced the hard disk. My sister's Mac was running OK, but not great, until we put a new version of OS X on it. Upgrading to a new version of the OS can precipitate these problems.

Time for a new hard drive at the least, or a new computer. That's when you'll start getting lockups, crashes and corrupted data. This is a sign that your drive will soon start getting hard errors that can't be corrected by rereading the block. All these repeated attempts to read the same block slow down your computer. One more thing-your hard disk is likely getting soft errors (where it has to read the same block several times before it gets an uncorrupted copy). The presence of a plethora of cleaning and optimizing features to boost.

An ancient, HDD-based laptop will lose performance over time no matter the OS, if you're not maintaining it properly. Best cleaner for Mac to try in 2021 for storage space optimization Compatibility: Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9 and higher versions.

Switching to Windows won't help at all if that's the problem. Have you considered putting an SSD in? I have an old 2010 MBP that's actually quite usable with an SSD in it. If your Mac is that old, it probably doesn't have an SSD and your hard drive is probably fragmented like crazy by now.
#Memory cleaner mac 10.12.1 upgrade
Performance hits from an upgrade usually manifest right away.Īt least that's true on a modern machine with an SSD. If performance is "steadily degrading" it's probably not due to your OS upgrade. Apple has obviously decided i have my MacBook too long. Performance is steadely degrading ever since. I upgraded to el capitain from lion a few monts ago.
